
His 2021-22 season at the Met was particularly thrilling, as the company reunited following the unprecedented cancellation of the 2020-21 season due to COVID-19. The tour kicks off at the Philharmonie de Paris (June 27 & 28), followed by performances at the Barbican Theatre in London (June 29) and at the Festspielhaus in Baden-Baden, He will celebrate his 500th performance at the Met on New Year’s Eve as Boroff in Fedora, and concludes his 2022-23 season singing Lodovico in Act III of Verdi’s Otello on a European tour with Maestro Yannick Nézet-Séguin and the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, following a performance at New York’s Carnegie Hall on June 22. Bernstein once again joins the Metropolitan Opera for the 2022-23 season, which finds him singing in three Live in HD telecasts – Fedora, Falstaff, and Die Zauberflöte – as well as performing in Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk and Dialogues des Carmélites, and covering roles in Idomeneo, Peter Grimes, Don Carlo, Aida, Tosca and Der Fliegende Holländer (Daland). He has also sung leading roles with companies around the country and around the world during his 30-year career. A Metropolitan Opera company member since his debut in 1995, GRAMMY® Award winning bass Richard Bernstein has appeared with the MET in 499 performances and over 125 international live broadcasts to date, which also includes 19 Live in HD performances broadcast in cinemas worldwide.
